Kara Boondi
Spicy fried gram-flour pearls — South Indian beer-snack royalty.
Kara boondi is the savoury cousin of the festive boondi laddoo — same gram-flour pearls, same kadai, but here they're seasoned hot with red chilli, salt, and curry leaves instead of sugar syrup. The result is a crunchy, mildly oily, dangerously snackable bowl that disappears faster than you'd expect. We fry our kara boondi fresh weekly in our RMV 2nd Stage kitchen, drain it well, and season while warm so the spice clings to every pearl rather than collecting at the bottom of the jar. ₹360 per kg gets you roughly 6-8 cups of finished mix — enough for a small Diwali gifting batch or a fortnight of tea-time. Pairs unreasonably well with filter coffee, cold beer, masala chai, or just on its own as a 4 PM rescue. Most customers order kara boondi alongside garlic mixture and plain sev as the savoury trio in a Diwali or Sankranti hamper. Stays crunchy for 3 weeks in an airtight box; we recommend small jars over one big container so you're not opening the same lid daily. WhatsApp: +91 94801 11777.
